Hey there! It’s that time of year again—my annual year-end review from your favorite nerdy photographer! Every year seems to fly by faster than the last, and 2024 was no exception. This year was filled with so many cherished moments, incredible photoshoots, quality time with friends and family, and, of course, plenty of furry friends who absolutely stole the show. I’m so grateful for the memories we’ve made together this year, and I can’t wait to see what 2025 has in store.
One of my biggest goals for 2024 was to make more time for friends and family, and I’m proud to say I nailed it! From monthly visits to Red Deer to see my family, to weekly board game nights with friends, to continuing our Dungeons & Dragons campaign, I truly prioritized the people (and adventures) that make my life brighter. Going into 2025, I want to continue that momentum but also challenge myself to branch out, meet new people, and grow my circle. As an ambivert, that’s definitely a little intimidating—it’s not easy to put yourself out there when you work solo—but I’m hopeful and excited for the opportunities the new year will bring!
Looking back at the goals I set for myself last year, it’s fun to see where I thrived and where I still have room to grow. One of my favorite accomplishments was diving into cozy games—yes, I played plenty this year, and they were a huge source of comfort and joy. Reading more books was another win, though I’m still mid-book for a few (does anyone else feel like their TBR pile just keeps growing?). On the flip side, I didn’t quite make it to the mountains as much as I hoped—I love photographing in Canmore and Banff, but this year didn’t allow for as many day trips. That’s definitely something I want to focus on for 2025 because the beauty of the Rockies is unmatched, and photographing in those stunning backdrops is something that feeds my creativity!
Another goal that’s close to my heart is photographing more unique pets. It’s no secret that I have a passion for capturing the personality of every animal, whether it’s a dog, cat, or something a little more out of the ordinary. While it’s a challenge to find pet parents who are eager to get portraits of their unique companions, it’s something I’m determined to work on in 2025. If you have a quirky critter or a beloved pet that’s a little out of the norm, I’d love to hear from you!
Finally, social media is always a work in progress for me. While I didn’t quite hit the consistency I aimed for this year, I’m still proud of the effort I put in, and I’m learning to give myself grace as I work on building that rhythm. Sharing my work and connecting with all of you through social media is one of my favorite ways to engage, so this is a goal I’ll continue to prioritize in the new year.
2024 has been an incredible year, and I’m so thankful for every client, furry friend, and memory I’ve had the privilege of capturing. Here’s to 2025—a year of new adventures, creativity, and growth. Let’s make it one to remember!
Proud of you, Callie, personally and professionally!
