My 10 Favorite Shots of 2024

Theodore “Theo”

I absolutely loved photographing in the mountains; I’d love to do more of it! Since moving to Calgary, I haven’t been going to the mountains as much as I want to be. Since they’re so close now, it’s no problem to take a day trip. Theo looked so stoic in the mountains, I loved it as a background and he was a great subject! I picked this image because I thought Theo matched the majestic vibes of the whole backdrop, looking regal as he always does.

Theodore is a Husky/Great Dane mix. This photo is a bit further back, you can see Theo's full body, the snowy landscape, and the mountains in the background. He's standing up, turned to the left side.

Olive

This was so natural for Olive. She was enjoying running around, waiting for us to catch up, and then setting off once again. She perfectly posed herself on this little hill to catch her breath and had her beautiful smile shining. I quickly snagged the photo and I loved how amazingly Olive it was! But she did want you to know that she’s the king of the castle and you’re a dirty rascal.

Rainbow Falls, Hilo, HI

I wanted to include a photo from my Hawaii excursion with Calvin’s family. It was a gorgeous trip and, oh wow, I took a ton of pictures! I chose to show this one in particular because I love the framing of the trees in the foreground, the waterfall and pond, the forest in the background, and the fact that I can tie it all in with capturing the sky as well. I’ll always reminisce about the trip and look back on the photos I took. That’s the best part of capturing memories; you can always remember the moment by looking at the picture!

The Jacobsens

My big family group in 2024 was The Jacobsens! This was actually a Christmas surprise. The kids came into town for a photo session, Grandpa joined in, and it was fantastic. I love when families have their special dynamic; the Jacobsens were as goofy as I am! I enjoyed all the laughs, hugs, and jokes that went on during our session. I picked out this specific image from our photoshoot because I loved the posed, unconventional idea of it. It looks all together but at the same time apart and one with the forest.

Atlas “Bean”

Once again, the beautiful Bean! Bean was my volunteer model for the new floral wreath cut-out I made. I love creating different backdrops and playing with different elements in my photography. I knew Bean would compliment the yellow flowers as well as be a great sport while I tested it out. He was so patient with me and the churro definitely helped the process as well!

Erika & Justin

This session was so much fun! If I could experience it for the first time again, I would. I’m so happy for Erika and Justin and I’m so honored to photograph their engagement photos and their wedding in September 2025. I love this picture because we all hiked a bit up a rocky hill to take these beautiful photos. There was so much laughter and love during the session; the pure happiness in their eyes as they look at each other just melts my heart!

Erika & Justin

No surprise here, I chose another one from this phenomenal session! I love everything about this photo; the closeness, the smiles, the framing, the touch points. It all makes me so happy! I knew that Erika and Justin weren’t huge on PDA but they were great sports about certain poses and prompts as they trusted me to do my thing and make them look amazing. I’m so excited for their wedding; I know it will be a day full of laughter and love.

Tilynn and Baloo

It was great meeting Tilynn and Baloo. Tilynn reached out to me on Instagram and I was honoured to meet them both and photograph their special bond. I love this image because it’s an interesting way to picture a hug, using a new perspective. Instead of a side by side hug (which we all love) it’s a unique angle that shows the closeness between a girl and her dog. This whole session was amazing and I hope I see Tilynn and Baloo in the future!

Baloo

During Tilynn and Baloos’ session, we came over to a small ledge with platforms. I had an idea for a photo and Baloo read my mind! He jumped up and laid down instantly. He knew what he was doing and posed perfectly with his mom and for his close-up. I love this photo because he looks so regal and it reminds me of the funny story behind it!

Lucy

I love this photo because Lucy fell asleep during our session! This was another fun one where I was playing with some backdrops and props; Lucy was so gracious in being my model. When I was ready for the white fluffy rug, I didn’t expect her to completely fall in love with it. We set her on it, she instantly laid down, and got comfy. She loved it so much that she started closing her eyes and falling asleep. Her mom said that they might need to get one in the future!

Chloe

Chloe was an extra model during my photo session with Lucy. When I arrived to experiment with backdrops with Lucy, I was kindly asked to take a few pictures of Chloe. I happily obliged as I was there to try new ways to further my photography. Luckily, Chloe was naturally curious about me, my camera, and my equipment. She came out, wandered around, and while she was in her natural spot on the window sill, I snagged a few photos! Chloe is a gorgeous cat and I love her piercing eyes in this picture. It reminds me of her rescue story and all the lovely things her family told me about her!
