I’ve photographed many birds before but this is the first time I had a chance to take care of one for a couple of weeks and let me tell you, it’s nothing like a dog or cat! In Simon’s case, I was warned that she bites so cuddling was off the table. She was still amazing to photograph! She was curious about what I was doing and showed me that she didn’t think I was a threat. Simon was still moving, playing, and preening. I’ve never owned a bird before, just photographed, and I didn’t know whether a squawk might be the same as a bark! I’d check on her every now and then, squawk or not, but all I’d get were silent stares. I assumed she was happy as she continued to eat and play around her enclosure. She was so interesting to photograph and I hope we can become better friends in the future!
