Disney Cruise
I had an amazing time celebrating my sister’s 30th birthday on our first-ever cruise. You’ll be able to read more about it here. This image ended up being my background, still is! I decided to take some photos of the water, including the waves and ripples created by the boat moving through it. I took inspiration from my favorite photographer, Warren Keelan. I love how he makes beautiful art from the ocean, and I wanted a picture of my own to remember the trip and pay homage to my favorite photographer.

Bertie
Bertie was a challenge to photograph because he was such an energetic dog! I love this picture because while we were on our photo walk, he was running around and zooming through the trees and brush. I love that I was able to capture an image of him in his happiest place, out in nature with his mom! Bertie is a gorgeous dog, and he was a great subject.

The Sunderlands
In addition to getting the traditional family photograph, I always love grabbing some fun and goofy shots! These tend to be my favorite because the genuine joy that radiates from the pictures warms my heart. For this image, I told the parents to tickle their kids when I give the cue (without the kids knowing, of course) what results is a fun, candid moment between the family. We even got the teen to crack a smile! I love creating a nice variety of photos for clients to choose from, and letting them enjoy the session in the moment.

The Husseys
This photo is similar to the one above. A nice moment between the family, taking a little time with each other without posing for the camera. I chose this image for the same reason I chose the other one: it’s different from the traditional posed pictures, and it’s something fun that adds to the session gallery! Especially when you’re working with children, those fun and candid moments that give genuine smiles are always a fan favorite. This was such a beautiful session, and I can’t wait to watch their family grow.

Ben & Andy
I love how mystical and fantastical this image looks. I believe it’s exactly the vibe Ben and Andy were going for. I love the negative space, the location, and the light filtering through the trees. I knew this picture had to be on the list because I knew it was going to be my favorite as soon as I took it! I can’t wait to photograph more sessions in this park next year. It was one of the newer locations I photographed at, and the whole session was the perfect fit for Ben and Andy’s wedding theme.

Franny (Charlee)
This whole session was amazing! Photographing senior pets will always be a love of mine. The light and location were amazing, and Franny was such a great model. I chose this one specifically because I believe that all the elements work together to create one beautiful image. The sun peaking through the tree, creating a nice flare and highlighting the subject. The angle at which I took this picture, grabbing some grass in the foreground. And of course, Franny is the best and cutest girl! Sitting so nicely and sharing her best smile.

Erika and Justin’s Wedding
I love this shot! The moment I saw it during editing, I love the framing in the image and the intimacy of it all. As Erika walked down the aisle with their dad, just a subtle look down, the anticipation and butterflies. I don’t usually edit in black and white, but I felt like it was right with this image. It was truly a privilege to photograph my friend’s wedding; it’s a high honour, and I felt the pressure! I wanted to do right by Erika and Justin, especially since I don’t photograph a lot of weddings.

Erika and Justin’s Wedding
This picture, we almost didn’t get. We played with the idea of taking a few photos at sunset, taking a bit of time before the reception to have a moment together. With everything going on, we almost didn’t go out; they just wanted to relax with family and friends. But after a badass maid of honour chat later, we were out there and were all so glad we did! We got some awesome shots with the light; it was a touching, calm moment away from all the stress to just enjoy each other’s company.

Remy (Lindsay)
There were many amazing images from this session that I loved, but I had to choose one in the water. Since I learned that Remy absolutely loves the water, I was happy we were able to get some shots in the river. It adds something more personal to the photos and highlights his personality. I’ve never photographed in the water before, but oh wow, I LOVE it! It was so much fun, and it was such a beautiful change of pace from my other pictures. I would definitely love to do more of these images in the future!

Banff
I love getting out and taking pictures of my adventures! They become fond memories to look back on. This picture was from a small weekend getaway I had with my family, a short Banff trip, but lively nonetheless! I chose this picture because there was just something about it. Sometimes that’s all it is! Sometimes you like a picture just how it looks and not the technical aspects of it. I love the simplicity of the image, the slight abstract vibe, and the flow of nature.
